The Greater Accra Regional Minister, Henry Quartey has denied claims that, the government will not use the Agbogbloshie land for anything as he says they will not allow anyone back to the demolished area.
According to him, the relocation of the onion sellers forms part of his ‘Let Make Accra Work’ pet project, which involves decongesting slums and removing unauthorized structures in the capital city.
Speaking to the media after decongestion exercise at Agbogbloshie Market on Thursday, the MP for Ayawaso Central stated that, with the place cleared, no one would be allowed to come to the site again.
He noted that, it is high time the entire country join hands and fight illegality which people indulge in as he says, arrangements have already been made for the traders to go including the scrap dealers who during the demolition exercise wanted to create confusion.
The Minister expressing his joy over the exercise added that, more than 90 per cent of the onion sellers have move to the new site which means they have shown good faith and commended them for their cooperation while hailing other stakeholders for making the movement possible.
